This year, Remington introduced an exciting new straight wall cartridge during Shot Show. The 360 Buckhammer is the first cartridge introduced by Remington in more than a decade and the first one released by the company since the Vista Outdoor acquisition in 2020. The concept of this cartridge is simple; they just straightened the .30-30 case so it holds a .358 bullet. The 360 Buckhammer is rimmed, which allows precise headspacing of the cartridge, designed perfectly for a lever-action rifle.
The 360 BHMR uses proven 180 grain and 200 grain Core-Lokt bullets, making it the ultimate deer hunting cartridge. These bullets, similar to projectiles used for decades in caliber like 35 Remington, successfully harvest big game by retaining energy close to 1,000 ft-lbs. out to 200 yards. These cartridges are mild and pleasant to shoot. Both the 180gr and 200gr Core-Lokt loads recoil at roughly 14.1 ft-lbs., less than 30-30 Winchester (16.3 ft-lbs) and much less than a 450 Bushmaster (22.2 ft-lbs)
Partnering with Remington, Henry Repeating Arms released new exclusive 360 Buckhammer lever-action models during Spring of this year.
Henry Side Gate Lever Action- this lever-action rifle provides a timeless appeal with its genuine American walnut furniture and blued steel. Topped with a 20" round barrel with a 1 in 12 twist rate proven to stabilize a variety of bullet weights. The barrel is completed with a fully-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight, including a removable white diamond insert for contrast and a brass bead at the front. The receiver is drilled and tapped to accept a Weaver 63B scope base for those that prefer some extra magnification. Side ejection keeps spent cartridges out of the way of the scope, and because the shells don't eject backward, it's safe for left-handed hunters.
H9 Henry Lever X - this platform combines modern performance with classic lever-action lineage. Its tough synthetic furniture weighs less compared to the American walnut, providing worry-free durability during the rough and rugged hunting times. A picatinny rail section at the bottom of the forearm is an ideal location for a bi-pod to steady your shots, and M-LOK accessory slots and inline swivel studs are yours to use as you see fit. The round blued steel barrel features a 1 in 12 twist to stabilize various bullet weights and 5/8x24 threading at the muzzle for a suppressor or other muzzle device. This lever-action is equipped with bright, high-contrast green and orange fiber optic sights which help line up the shot with a quickness. The receiver is also drilled and tapped to accept a Weaver 63B scope base. The side-loading gate allows the magazine to be kept topped off without needing to remove the tube or muzzle device when your hunt gets fast-paced. This rifle is also safe for left-handed hunters.
All in all, this new caliber seems to be the future of top hunting ammo.
