A silent but deadly anchoring system.
Anchor in the shallows of your favorite lake, river or in the flats without making a sound—fish will never hear you coming. The Minn Kota Talon Shallow Water anchor system allows anglers to anchor with push button convenience. With a quick press of a button on the panel or from anywhere on the boat using the remote you can set or retract the anchor; the system senses the bottom and will automatically set the anchor so that you can focus on fishing.
Designed to be silent the Talon uses an incredibly strong fiberglass composite spike controlled by an electric motor to hold your boat in a desired location. Because the motor sits above the waterline what little noise it produces isn’t broadcast into the water. Vertical deployment of the spike keeps it close to the boat to prevent line entanglements that can break off prized fish. The fiberglass composite spike is engineered with enough flexibility to resist breaking even in the roughest of conditions or if excitement to get to the next spot overwhelms you and the spike left down when you put the boat in gear. If the ignition switch is turned on while anchored an audible alarm will alert you to retract the spike.
Stay in place and on the fish. Several anchoring modes ensure that your boat stays close to your targets regardless of the bottom composition or the conditions above the water. There are modes for hard bottoms, soft muddy bottoms and one that compensates for rough water and windy conditions. Talon will drive the spike into hard bottoms like a jack-hammer with three progressive hits. So that you can retract the spike easily in soft or muddy conditions, the computer control motor will take a less aggressive approach to setting the spike. When conditions above the surface turn rough, the Talon uses a suspension like system to compensate for waves to keep the spike set and the boat holding fast to the bottom.
Installation of a Talon carries the same complexity of adding an electric trolling motor to your boat. Packed with adjustment the mounting bracket adapts to most transoms or can be tied into jack plate using an optional bracket. 30° of pivoting range (in 5° increments) compensates for transom rake to provide a near vertical installation for maximum anchor holding power. For transportation, the Talon can be removed quickly from the mounting bracket using included quick-release levers. We recommend a sealed quick connect to separate the wiring to store the Talon off the boat.
The Talon can be a game changer for anglers who want an advantage for fishing the shallows. The silence and quick deployment from anywhere onboard allow you to anchor undetected and remain focused on landing a prized fish.
