Vance Outdoors Training Basic Pistol Course

The Vance Outdoors Basic Pistol Training Course consists of four hours in the classroom and 2 hours on the shooting range. This is an entry level class for the novice/beginner to become familiarized with safe pistol handling and shooting. All the following will be discussed, demonstrated and experienced.

1. The primary different types of pistols and the pros and cons of each.
2. How to pick the right pistol for the intended purpose.
3. The basics of pistol ammunition ndash; types, caliber and intended purpose.
4. How to fit a pistol to your hand and physical abilities.
5. Proper shooting grips.
6. Proper sight alignment and sight picture.
7. Proper trigger control.
8. How to safely load and unload the pistol.

You will have the opportunity to shoot our Training Department Ruger .22LR semi-automatic pistols, or bring your own and put the skills taught in the classroom to practical use. Although this class is taught by NRA Certified Pistol Instructors, it is not a NRA Certified class. Upon completion of the class, you will receive a Vance Outdoors Certificate of Completion, signed by your instructor and the Vance Outdoors Training Coordinator.
